Protecting Cultural Heritage in Times of Conflict.
The origins of my heritage began along the Andean region of South America. The depth of my culture is represented through Ecuador’s musical and gastronomical roots. My family strictly follows a strong religious background which has influenced my life greatly.Papers further note that heritage artefacts play a crucial role in the promotion and maintenance of a nation (Palmer, 1998). Regarding heritage as symbolic cultural production is closely linked to understanding the core of national identity.The Heritage Project. Students will prepare to celebrate their cultural heritage by compiling a family tree, page from history, world map, passport, and travel log, and making a flag for their topic country.
An author says about the importance of culture that “culture is the set of transmitted and learned behavior patterns, beliefs, institutions and all other products of human work and thought that characterize the functioning of particular population, profession, organization or community”10, so the only representative of the particular community or population is the culture.Cultural heritage is a fundamental aspect that helps individuals to understand how well they are aligned to a certain culture. When people understand other people’s culture, they perceive them in a better way and it reduces conflict between individuals of different cultural background.
Conflict; First Aid to Cultural Heritage; and Communication, Logistics and Planning. Collecting testimonies directly from the field, discussing the possible ways of protecting cultural heritage in areas of civil unrest and exploring culture’s potential role in promoting peace and recovery were some of the main features of this training.
